Our Son
Posted in Uncategorized on 08/20/2009 12:17 am by JohnI once commented that I wasn’t going to have more than two children, but God made it clear that it was His will for our lives to be better than I had imagined. We were calle
d to adopt two little girls from China who have increased our joy and the fullness and richness of our lives immeasurably.
After the addition of our youngest daughter to our family, I would have again said that our family was complete. However, that still small voice continued to echo in our ears and hearts, and we began the process of adopting another of China’s precious children in the fall of 2008.
Again, our adoption has been a journey of faith. (See Child of Our Heart and Chosen adoption stories for more information). A number of outside factors have tested our faith, e.g., uncertain economic times, lengthy adoption wait from China. These factors combined with the uncommon size of our family, and the apparent shrinking of our home make it look like we are completely insane to those who do not appreciate our calling.
On July 23, 2009, we were given the folio on a little boy from China who was eligible for adoption. His name is MingXuan and he had been surgically treated for tetralogy of Fallot, the same heart disease that our youngest daughter was also born with. CCAI, our adoption agency, gave us a few days to decide if we would accept MingXuan. We reviewed the medical records, progress reports, etc. that we had. After prayer, and a reminder from Grandma Mary that he was chosen for us, we decided to accept him. We filled out the letter of intent and we were given pre-approval on August 4, 2009.
Now, we wait again. We will not be able to travel, most likely, until the first part of 2010.
Until then we ask for your prayers and support. First we ask for your prayers for MingXuan that he may be kept from harm, and that his transition to his forever family will be painless for him. We ask for your prayers for us as we prepare our home and our family to receive another member, and as we prepare for another trip to China. Secondly, we ask for your support. Adoption costs and travel costs have risen since we began this journey. As we evaluate upcoming expenses versus the money that we have saved, it is obvious that we need the help of our friends. Donations of Continental OnePass Frequent Flyer Miles would be very much appreciated, and we would be willing to pay the associated transfer fees.
